Ministry of Education: Pupils cannot be forced to take part in a protest
The Ministry of Education and Science has announced that it has received information and evidence about the circulation of notices in parents’ groups on social networks about the obligatory participation of graduating pupils in the protest announced for today, 5 October, in support of the Kosovo Liberation Army and the protection of its values, as Telegrafi reports.
The Ministry recalled that no pupil can be forced or pressured to participate in protests or public gatherings.
“Given that these are pupils, most of whom are under the age of 18, educational institutions have a special responsibility for their protection, respect for their rights and guaranteeing the regular development of the teaching process,” the announcement says.
The Ministry demanded that the teaching timetable be respected and that pupils not be organised or removed from the teaching process for any purpose.
The Ministry also called on the municipal directorates of education and educational institutions to take the necessary measures to implement these demands.
According to the Ministry, the Central Education Inspectorate, within its legal competences, will monitor the implementation of the demands and will handle any information or complaint related to forcing or pressuring pupils, as well as obstructing the regular development of the teaching process.
