Minor sentenced to 9 years in prison for the murder of a 27-year-old in Kobaj, Prizren

By decision of the Basic Court in Prizren, a minor identified as A.O. has been sentenced to 9 years in prison for the aggravated murder of 27-year-old A.O., an incident that occurred on June 14, 2026, in the village of Kobaj, Prizren.

According to the official notice from the Court, the Juvenile Department found the minor A.O. guilty of two criminal offenses: “aggravated murder” committed in co-perpetration and “unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons.”

The tragedy occurred during a fight with a sharp instrument (knife), in which the minor A.O., acting together with his brother Sh.O., stabbed the victim once in the chest.

From the wounds sustained, the 27-year-old died on the way to the hospital. Another person with the initials I.O. suffered minor bodily injuries in the incident.

At the judicial review hearing held on September 18, 2026, the minor stated that he feels responsible and guilty for all the offenses charged against him.

The trial panel accepted this guilty plea after assessing that the minor fully understood the nature and consequences of his statement, made in consultation with his legal counsel.

Under the conviction, the minor was sentenced to 9 years in prison, with time spent in pre-trial detention to be counted toward the sentence.

Detention was extended until the verdict becomes final.

Regarding the two other suspects in the case (Sh.O. and A.O.), the Court announced that their case remains in the investigative/preliminary phase at the Serious Crimes Department.

Dissatisfied parties have the right to appeal the verdict to the Court of Appeals after receiving the full written decision. /Telegrafi/
