“Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss II on the stage of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet

Die Fledermaus (“The Bat”), the famous operetta by Johann Strauss II, arrives on the stage of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet (TKOB) with all the brilliance, humor and elegance of Vienna.

The operetta is a story full of misunderstandings, masks, revenge and comic situations, accompanied by Strauss’s unforgettable waltzes.

“Die Fledermaus” is one of his best-known operettas; it premiered in 1874 in Vienna. It is an operetta with spoken dialogue, with a libretto by Karl Haffner and Richard Genée.

The story unfolds during a night full of misunderstandings, masks and hidden identities. Gabriel von Eisenstein is due to report to prison to serve a sentence, but beforehand he attends a grand ball organized by Prince Orlofsky. His wife, Rosalinda, also appears in disguise, while a series of characters become entangled with one another.

The work is particularly known for its waltzes, lively rhythms and humor, including such famous numbers as “Mein Herr, was dächten Sie?”, “Frühlingsstimmen” and the Act II finale.

At TKOB, the production will run for three consecutive nights: September 25, 26 and 27. Tenor Denis Skura will perform the role of Gabriel von Eisenstein for three consecutive evenings.

Tenor Erlind Zeraliu will perform the role of Frank, while Gilmond Miftari will perform the role of Dr. Blind. Tenors Gerald Murrja and Matias Xheli will share the role of Alfred. Rosalinda will be performed by sopranos Renisa Laçka and Nina Muho, while Rovena Xhelili will perform the role of Adele.

Ida will be performed by sopranos Greis Shametaj and Viola Bakiasi. Baritones Solen Alla and Artur Vera will perform the role of Dr. Falke, while Genc Vozga will perform the role of Frosch for three consecutive nights. Mezzo-soprano Amelda Papa will perform the role of Prince Orlofsky.
