President Begaj attends finalization of “Arbri Shield 2026” exercise: “You demonstrated not only preparation, but also resilience and strong military character”

President Bajram Begaj closely followed the finalization of the “Arbri Shield 2026” exercise of the Light Infantry Battalion Group, which took place in Bizë and was certified “Mission Capable” according to NATO standards.

In the greeting speech he delivered at the ceremony, Begaj praised the certification as proof of the progress of the Armed Forces, high preparation, discipline and professionalism, and as a standard that must be maintained.

“Today, here in Bizë, you demonstrated not only high tactical preparation, but also resilience and strong military character. You showed the ability to plan, to coordinate and to act in a complex operational environment,” the President of the Republic declared, stressing that military readiness is built every day through training and professionalism.

As Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Head of State stressed that in the context of security challenges, including the war in Ukraine, tensions in the Middle East, hybrid threats, cyberattacks and disinformation, the risks also affect our region, so defense must be strengthened to guarantee national security.

“The revival of nationalism, divisive rhetoric, ethnic tensions and attempts by malign actors to exploit our weaknesses can undermine the peace and stability of the region. Precisely for this reason, we must invest in security before insecurity knocks on our doors. Peace is not preserved with passivity or simply with declarations. It is protected with readiness, training, stable alliances and a well-equipped, well-prepared Armed Force,” President Begaj declared.

The President of the Republic devoted particular importance in the greeting to the partnership with the United States and NATO, stressing that the Armed Forces are able to contribute alongside allies wherever required.

“Being assessed ‘Mission Capable’ is not a title that stays in the archives of an exercise. It is the real ability to deploy and act with operational efficiency wherever and whenever required, alongside our allies.”

The Head of State also brought attention to investments in the defense industry, the modernization of structures, the development of military capacities, infrastructure and the guarantee of national security. “The achievements of our Armed Forces would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our allies in NATO. I want to particularly appreciate the strategic partnership with the United States of America. American support,” President Begaj stressed, “has been continuous and defining for the growth of our defense capacities.”

On this occasion, President Begaj conveyed a special message of gratitude to the New Jersey National Guard, through its Commander, Brigadier General Yvonne L. Mays, who was present at the ceremony.

At the end of the speech, the Head of State assured the military that as President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces he will support every initiative that improves the conditions of service, career, welfare of the military and their families.
