The Government of Montenegro has approved the termination of the agreements enabling the visa-free regime with Russia, Belarus and Turkey.
From November 1, citizens of these countries will be required to hold a visa for entry, transit and stay in Montenegro.
The decision is part of the harmonization of visa policy with the European Union and fulfills one of the criteria for closing Chapter 24 of the accession negotiations.
Meanwhile, a new agreement is expected to be signed with Turkey for holders of diplomatic, official and special passports.
Montenegro has provisionally closed 18 of the 33 negotiation chapters and aims for EU membership in 2028.
