Nations League: Montenegro–Cyprus 0:0 at halftime, the “Falcons” dominant in Podgorica
Montenegro’s Nations League campaign kicked off tonight at Stadion pod Goricom in Podgorica, where the “Falcons” are facing Cyprus. Coach Mirko Vučinić opted for an attacking lineup, with Krstović, Osmajić, Jovetić and Adžić up front, making clear from the opening minutes that he is targeting victory.
The first half was complete dominance by the Montenegrins, with around 80% ball possession. The biggest chances came from Krstović, whose shot finished just wide of the post, Bulatović, who fired over the bar, and Osmajić — but the Cypriots’ double defensive block withstood the pressure until the break: 0:0, Vijesti reports.
In the group’s other match, Armenia beat Latvia 2:0 in Yerevan, making a winning start even more important for Montenegro in the race for first place.
The match is still underway: the “Falcons” will target victory in the second half before playing away to Armenia on Monday, and then in Latvia.
