NATO chief: the U.S. war against Iran was “absolutely essential”
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has declared that it was “absolutely essential” for the United States to take on the war against Iran, saying that only the U.S. was capable of destroying Tehran’s nuclear capacity.

Speaking at the Euronews Defence and Space summit, Rutte described Iran’s nuclear programme as an imminent threat “not only to Israel and the Middle East”, but also to Europe, as Al Jazeera reports.
He acknowledged that the war with Iran has also had “its own negative consequences”, but added that additional defence investment will enable European countries “to look after their own backyard”. “It should be us looking after the Houthis and the Red Sea”, instead of the U.S., Rutte said, according to Al Jazeera.
