New York protests, Edi Rama: Eggs and mud won’t stop me, the Albanian flag will be raised atop a united Europe

Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted from the United States of America, addressing critics who protested with the national flag in New York, stressing that they “cover themselves with the national flag and strut the streets like hysterical hens”.

He writes in his reaction: “I have raised that flag higher than it has ever been in the eyes of the world.”

Rama also addressed those who, in his words, “think they will stop me with mud, eggs and spittle” in his mission to raise the Albanian flag “atop a united Europe”.

The prime minister assessed that “for the first time in the history of the Albanian state, we have an institutional system that shows self-cleansing ability”, considering this achievement a direct result of his and the Socialist Party’s mission.

Continuing his reaction, the prime minister also commented on the ongoing corruption accusations, calling them “bizarre bombs” amplified “day and night”.

In his words, “in a country drowning in the swamp of corruption, there is no frontal fight nor concrete results against corruption” — a reality which, he stressed, Albania lived until his government “turned the wheel of justice toward equality of all before the law”.

Rama underlined that today Albania “is no longer that country” and that the European Union appreciates the country more and more for this fight. He harshly criticized the “hysterical hens of our village” who, in his words, “cackle and throw eggs in the air on behalf of the marketplace cockerels of politics and media”.
