Official: Alberto Gilardino is the new coach of Parma

The return of a former star. It is now official: Parma has appointed Alberto Gilardino as head coach; he previously played 116 matches and scored 56 goals in the yellow-and-blue shirt between 2002 and 2005.

“Alberto Gilardino is the new coach of Parma Calcio 1913,” the Emilian club said in a statement. “The new coach of the men’s first team has signed a contract lasting until the end of the 2026/27 season, with the option for the club to extend the agreement for two more seasons.”

A World Cup winner with the national team in 2006, Gilardino terminated his contract with Pisa on Monday — where he had been sacked in February 2026 — and now takes charge of Parma following the departure of Carlos Cuesta.
