Operation “Cooperation”: car and business theft gang dismantled — six crimes solved in Kavaja, two arrested

The operation codenamed “Cooperation” has been finalized in Kavaja, in which police have solved six theft cases and arrested two suspected perpetrators.

L. R., 37, and A. H., 32, both residents of Tirana, were arrested after being wanted for theft. According to police, both have extensive criminal records for theft and for obstructing police officers.

The operation was carried out by specialists of the Crime Investigation Section of the Kavaja Police Station, in cooperation with the Durrës Police Station, following investigations to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of several thefts.

The suspects were located by police services while driving a vehicle. Officers signaled them to stop, but they disobeyed the order and obstructed the actions of police officers. Checks revealed that the vehicle with foreign license plates they were traveling in was stolen.

According to investigations, on September 24, 2026, the two arrested are suspected of having stolen a vehicle in Kavaja and then fled. Police say they were assisted in this incident by L. D. and B. S., who had been arrested earlier for violent obstruction of police officers.

Investigations so far suggest that during September, L. R. and A. H., acting together, stole three vehicles in Durrës and two vehicles in Tirana. In one of the Tirana cases, the vehicle’s owner is suspected to have been threatened with a knife.

Also, A. H. is suspected of having violently stolen a sum of money, constituting the daily turnover, at a fuel station in Bulqiza on September 17, 2026.

During the operation and the investigation period, four vehicles, three license plates, three vehicle keys, four mobile phones, clothing used during the thefts, and tools suspected of being used to open vehicles were seized as material evidence.

Police say investigations continue to document and solve other theft cases that may have been committed by the arrested.
