“Our people see it. Our people remember it”: Srpska Lista thanks Vučić after his resignation
Srpska Lista, as Danas reports, thanked Aleksandar Vučić last night for “the years of support and care for the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija,” immediately after his resignation from the post of president of Serbia.
“Srpska Lista, on behalf of the Serb people and all those for whom Serbia is in their heart, expresses deep and sincere gratitude to the president of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, for the years of dedication, support and care for the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija,” the statement says, as reported by KoSSev.
According to Srpska Lista, investments in Serb communities are “inextricably linked” to Vučić’s policy, which — as they claim — has placed the issue of the survival of Serbs “in their centuries-old hearths” high among state priorities.
The statement lists the construction of housing, employment, investments in education, health care and religious facilities: since 2020, they claim, more than 2,000 medical and non-medical workers have been employed in the Serbian health system in Kosovo.
“Every renovated school means that tomorrow the Serbian language and the sound of children will still be heard in it. Every new kindergarten means faith in life and in the future,” it continues. “Thank you to President Aleksandar Vučić for every family that has been provided a home. Thank you for every new job and for every family that thanks to him has gained greater security.”
The statement comes after Vučić’s latest speeches as president: in Pioneer Park he particularly thanked the Kosovo Serbs, calling them “giant heroes” who, as he said, endured “all the attacks, all the pressures, the murders and the arrests.” From the Presidency, he said that every future government must protect “above all our people in Kosovo and Metohija” and resist those who would convince it that it is “better to give up Kosovo as soon as possible.”
Vučić then signed his resignation before the cameras and handed over the duty to the Parliament speaker, Ana Brnabić; the presidential elections will be held by the end of December.
