Parent of one of the poisoned children at the Korce kindergarten speaks out: What the doctors at the hospital told us

Koco Xexo, the father of one of the 6 children poisoned at kindergarten No. 17 in Korce, has spoken on camera and recounted how his son’s condition worsened after they picked him up from kindergarten as usual.

“At first he only had some slight stomach pains. They thought they might be ordinary complaints for children of this age and did not pay much attention. Then the child slept and, when he woke up, the vomiting began, which started to increase step by step. We saw that the situation was becoming more difficult and we went to the hospital emergency department, where he received the necessary treatment,” the parent recounts.

He says that at the hospital, during treatment, the doctors raised suspicions that the little boy had suffered food poisoning.

“From what they told me at the hospital, it was a poisoning that may have come from food. Perhaps it may also have come from some other product, I do not know exactly what may have happened. But, according to them, the main part could be linked to food, perhaps to the pilaf he had eaten or to the yogurt. I do not know exactly what it may have been from,” he says.

The poisoning of the children inside the kindergarten premises has led to criminal prosecution for abuse of office against the director of the educational institution, but also against the emergency doctor, who did not notify the police about the situation after ascertaining the poisoning.
