Pejaković: Fiscal Council still without official request on the “Euro model” — “we will give our position when we have the data”

Newly formed Fiscal Council member Bratislav Pejaković stated on the final day of the International Congress of Accountants and Auditors, as Vijesti reports, that the Council has not yet received any official request to give its opinion on the “Euro model” proposed by the government. “So far we have not received an official request to give our opinion on the proposed model. We need to receive certain information and data to come out with an official position,” Pejaković said.

He noted that the Council has an advisory role and was formed as a condition for closing Chapter 17 — Economic and Monetary Union, one of the key chapters of the European Union membership negotiations.

At the same congress, according to Vijesti‘s reporting, Tax Administration director Sava Laketić said that this year revenue collection exceeded last year’s and the plan’s, with fewer inspections but more fines issued. This season alone, 64 facilities were temporarily closed. “All punitive measures are used as a necessary tool for improving tax discipline,” Laketić said.

Tax Administration deputy director Snežana Drobnjak said the central digital platform IRMS has been stabilized and is fully functional; after nine months of implementation, business is feeling the benefits, while work is also underway on the IRMS mobile app.

The International Congress of Accountants and Auditors gathered around 400 participants, including domestic and international lecturers, as well as representatives of international professional organizations and financial institutions.
