Peleshi hosts Bundestag delegation: Germany key support for Albania’s EU integration

Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi hosted today at the Albanian Parliament the chair of the German Bundestag’s Parliamentary Committee on Tourism, Anja Karliczek, and members of the delegation visiting our country.

During the meeting, the very good political and economic relations between Albania and Germany were praised, underpinned by intensive parliamentary cooperation between the Albanian Parliament and the Bundestag at all levels.

Special importance was given to the active participation of the German delegation in the Interparliamentary Conference on European Union enlargement and Albania’s membership, held a day earlier in Tirana.

According to Peleshi, this participation is further evidence of the strong partnership and the support Germany gives to Albania’s European integration process.

In a social-media reaction after the meeting, the Parliament Speaker stressed that Germany’s support for Albania’s development, democratisation and European integration, on a merit basis, remains an important encouragement for Albanian institutions on the path to full European Union membership within this decade.

Peleshi also underlined the great potential tourism holds for further expanding cooperation between the two countries.

According to him, the development of this sector can create new partnership opportunities not only in tourism, but also in the economy, transport, infrastructure, environmental protection and strengthening the ties between the citizens of the two countries.
