Peleshi meets ambassadors of the “Friends of the Western Balkans”: Parliamentary cooperation, an important bridge toward European integration

Parliament Speaker Niko Peleshi held a meeting today with ambassadors and Friendship Groups from the countries known as the “Friends of the Western Balkans” — Austria, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Croatia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

In his remarks, Peleshi described these countries as important partners of Albania and continued supporters of the country’s journey toward the European Union. He stressed that parliamentary cooperation is an important bridge for bilateral relations and for supporting Albania’s pace toward EU membership.

“Parliamentary cooperation is an important bridge for our relations and for supporting Albania’s pace toward EU membership,” Peleshi said.

The Parliament Speaker emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy is a powerful instrument for strengthening dialogue and cooperation with partner countries, considering it a permanent activity that must be turned into consolidated practice.

“The Parliament will continue to be an active contributor to this process, turning parliamentary diplomacy into a permanent activity of dialogue and cooperation,” Peleshi declared.

In a reaction also made public on social media, Peleshi described the meeting as an important moment for deepening relations with the friendly countries of the Western Balkans, calling them strong and consistent partners of Albania’s European journey.
