Socialists press ahead with territorial map as Democrats walk out of parliament debate, announce appeal to Constitutional Court

Democrats on the Laws Committee demanded the reversal of the new territorial division proposed by the Socialists, arguing it violates the Constitution and the law on local government.

To undo the start of the debate, the Democrats asked that the return of the draft bill to the Parliament Speaker be put to a vote, but for the Socialists the procedure has moved past that point.

Faced with the majority’s refusal to vote on the request, the opposition walked out of the session, later warning that it will challenge the initiative at the Constitutional Court, writes A2.

Despite this, Ulsi Manja told the committee room that the Democrats did not even bother to listen to the answers, while Arbjan Mazniku defended the draft that dissolves 15 municipalities.
