Pezeshkian: Iran approved new measures to manage the “special” economic conditions
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared that his government has approved a “new regulation for managing these special conditions”, in the face of harsh sanctions and economic pressure, as Al Jazeera reports in its live coverage.
“The enemy’s plan in recent months has been to cut the country’s vital arteries in order to exert pressure on the noble people of Iran,” Pezeshkian wrote in a post on X. “Economic pressure has intensified, but by God’s grace, with the people’s support and the measures taken by our colleagues in the government, we have not allowed the enemy’s objectives in the economic war to be realised,” he added.

The statement comes as the United States is tightening sanctions against Tehran, also targeting the automotive and railway sectors, as part of the naval blockade of Iranian ports. Analysts warn that the eight-month U.S.–Iran war is weighing ever more heavily on the Iranian economy, while oil prices remain near record levels.
According to University of Tehran professor Atefeh Taghiani, economic pressure and Washington’s threats are unlikely to force Iran to back down — on the contrary, “as long as there is an existential threat, this will strengthen Iranians’ resolve,” she told Al Jazeera.
