North Macedonia suffer third straight defeat in the Nations League: Scotland win 2-0 in Skopje
Scotland claimed a big 2-0 win over North Macedonia on Saturday evening at the “Toshe Proeski” stadium in Skopje, in the Nations League match that kicked off at 20:45, as SportSport writes. Kieron Bowie opened the scoring as early as the 7th minute, while John McGinn sealed the triumph with a penalty in the 69th minute, after the referee punished a handball by Bojan Miovski.
According to Derbi’s reporting, this was Scotland’s first win in this Nations League campaign and the first under new coach Sebastien Pocognoli, who after the match expressed satisfaction with the result but stressed that his team should have scored more goals. Scotland finished the match with ten men, after Scott McKenna was sent off with a red card in the 83rd minute.
For his part, North Macedonia coach Goce Sedloski called it a heavy defeat, declaring that he is not used to such losses, SportSport reports.
With this result, North Macedonia remain without a single goal scored after three matches in League B’s Group B1 — having previously lost 0-3 to Switzerland and 0-2 to Slovenia — and sit bottom, behind Switzerland, Slovenia and Scotland.
