Plavë: Ruda Polje Residents Complain About New Road — “You Can Only Get Home by Excavator”

Residents of the Rudo Polje neighborhood in Plavë have voiced dissatisfaction with the way works to widen and asphalt the road were carried out. Instead of a modern road, as they had expected, they say they have faced serious difficulty reaching their homes, calling the intervention ill-conceived and unprofessional.

Shuço Redžepagiq, one of the affected residents, says that after the works were completed, access to his yard has become almost impossible: the new sidewalk and embankment were raised about a meter above the level of his yard, leaving him isolated. “From the main road to my yard you can now only get by excavator and truck,” he says.

Redžepagiq accuses that the project was wrongly designed by his nephew, Armin Redžepagiq, in cooperation with neighbor Eko Bašiq. According to him, the road was pushed inside his private property, while the properties of the project’s authors were left untouched.

He says he has already raised the concern with the mayor, Nihad Camoviq, and warns that if the situation is not fixed, he will turn to state inspectorates and the relevant ministry to seek intervention.

The Plavë municipality, for its part, through mayor Nihad Camoviq, says the works are being carried out in line with the main project and planning documentation. According to the municipality, the current state is only a phase of the works and not the final state, and once completed, every existing entrance will be fully functional.
