Poker table, chips and 8,000 euros in cash, 2 arrested in Fier, 16 other people under investigation

Another case of the illegal organisation of gambling has been struck by Fier Police. During the operation codenamed “No Games”, officers discovered inside a bar in the “Kastriot” neighbourhood a space adapted for gambling, where 16 people were caught in the act playing poker.

Arrested were 43-year-old Rudenc Cenko, residing in Tirana, suspected as the organiser of the gambling, and 49-year-old Dhurata Sherifaj, residing in Fier, administrator of the bar where the activity took place.

Sixteen citizens who were caught playing gambling games in the bar were criminally proceeded against in a state of freedom.

During the search, police seized a poker table, a box with 500 chips, six packs of playing cards, five mobile phones and 8,000 euros.

“The codenamed operation ‘No Games’ is finalised; another case of the illegal organisation of gambling is struck.

A space adapted for carrying out this activity is discovered in a bar in the city of Fier.

2 citizens are arrested (the bar’s administrator and the organiser of the gambling).

16 citizens caught playing gambling games in the bar are criminally proceeded against.

1 poker table, chips, playing cards, 5 mobile phones and a sum of money are seized.

The services of the Fier Police Commissariat, in cooperation with the services of the Special Force ‘Shqiponja’ of the Fier Local Police Directorate, within the controls to prevent and strike the illegal gambling activity, also based on information obtained through operative means that this activity was carried out in a bar in the city of Fier, organised and finalised the codenamed operation ‘No Games’.

During the operation, police services intervened in a bar in the ‘Kastriot’ neighbourhood, Fier, which citizen Dh. Sh. had rented and administered. During the intervention, a room adapted for gambling was discovered, organised by citizen R. C., and 16 citizens were caught in the act playing gambling games.

Following the actions on the case, citizens R. C., 43 years old, residing in Tirana, and Dh. Sh., 49 years old, residing in Fier, were arrested in the act.

Also criminally proceeded against in a state of freedom were the citizens: K. Ç., 38 years old, D. K., 44, A. V., 39, K. H., 45, L. M., 42, F. A., 59, A. I., 37, O. M., 37, K. H., 49, D. V., 46, E. B., 40, D. V. (T.), 31, L. Xh., 39, V. T., 35, F. P., 41, and S. D., 28, residing in Fier, Tirana, Durrës, Korçë and Berat.

During the operation, 1 poker table, 1 box with 500 chips, 6 packs of playing cards, 5 mobile phones and 8,000 euros were found in the bar and seized as material evidence.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecution at the Fier Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction, for further actions.”
