“Price Mirror” launches in the first ten days of October, Ibrahimaj: It will initially include 160 products

Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj announced that the “Price Mirror” platform, one of the government’s newest initiatives to increase market transparency, is in its final preparation stages and is expected to become operational within the first ten days of October.

Speaking at the press conference, Ibrahimaj answered journalists’ interest in the project’s progress and the products to be included in the platform, stressing that work on its finalization is nearing completion.

“”Price Mirror” is a new initiative undertaken by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation. As we have explained, we are working to build the platform, which is currently in its final preparation stages,” the minister declared.

According to her, in the first phase the platform will contain at least 160 products most used by Albanian families, becoming an informative instrument for consumers.

“We expect that in the first ten days of October the platform will be functional with a minimum number of 160 products. We are coordinating with the main markets the final list of products, which will consist of the main basket products. There will be food, but also daily hygiene products, which are most used by Albanian families,” Ibrahimaj said.

The minister also announced that alongside the platform, another initiative is being developed in cooperation with supermarkets, importers and key producers, aimed at guaranteeing more stable prices for several basic products.

“We are working with the supermarket network, but also with importer and producer networks, which are their main suppliers, to detail a list of products for which supermarkets, importers and key producers have decided to trade for a three-month period at fixed prices and with minimal profit,” she explained.

According to Ibrahimaj, both the “Price Mirror” platform and the list of products to be traded at fixed prices for a three-month period will be active within the foreseen deadline.

“Both of these will be live within the first ten days of October, as we have announced before,” the minister concluded.

Finally, she stressed that this initiative aims to give consumers the opportunity to compare prices of basic products across different markets, increasing market transparency and encouraging competition among economic operators.
