Protest for the KLA four, Rama: A national value cannot be criminalized for any reason

Prishtina Mayor Përparim Rama joined the protest march organized by students against the conviction of the former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders by the Specialist Court in The Hague, declaring that the KLA is a national value that cannot be criminalized for any reason.

Rama said the KLA four were accused disproportionately, stressing that the KLA was the response of the entire people to ethnic cleansing, oppression and rapes committed during the war. "The leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army have been accused in a disproportionate manner for crimes… A national value cannot be criminalized for any reason. For this reason the capital’s squares are always open and in support of every protest that defends national values," he said.

He called on institutions and political parties to rise above the party dimension and create national unity. "I call on all institutions, parties… this must be used for national unity," Rama said.

During his speech, Rama honored the fallen, heroes and martyrs who sacrificed for Kosovo’s freedom, saying many of them gave their lives to defend family, state and the future.
