Rama ahead of UN General Assembly address: ‘Proud of Albania’
Prime Minister Edi Rama will address the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Friday with a speech.
Rama shared on social media a photograph beside the national flag at UN headquarters, shortly before addressing the United Nations General Assembly.
“Proud of Albania,” Rama writes alongside the photo.
Prime Minister Rama is on a multi-day visit to the United States of America as part of his participation in the work of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the visit, the Prime Minister is accompanied by his wife, Linda Rama, and the official Albanian delegation.
At a gala evening organised by the Council for Albanian-American Relations in New York, in his speech Prime Minister Rama dwelt on Albanian-American friendship, describing it as a special and enduring relationship.
He also spoke about former Kosovo president Hashim Thaçi, who on September 16 was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Special Court in The Hague.
The Prime Minister said that former President Joe Biden betrayed Hashim Thaçi; he described Thaçi as a historic figure for Kosovo and criticised the way he has been treated by international allies.
