Rama: Albanians protest for biodiversity today because we tripled protected areas
Prime Minister Edi Rama, speaking from the US about the protests held in Albania for the protection of the environment and biodiversity, said that even the fact Albanians protest over these issues is to his government’s credit.
“Today our country protests for biodiversity, because we banned hunting, because we expanded protected areas, because we tripled the number of birds and animals in our country, because we increased the area of recovered forests as never before.
We now have a new feeling in a new country, the feeling when people live with the knowledge that things are good but could be worse. Their number has grown, and that is a great success, just as it is a great success that we are very close to the diaspora.
We are preparing diaspora bonds to finally take the diaspora’s participation to another level,” Rama said.
