Rama: “No one will stop me with the endless corruption rants of ‘hysterical hens'”
Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted in a post on the X platform to the protests in New York.
Rama referred to the use of the national flag during the protests, as well as the throwing of eggs and mud at him and government representatives.
“To those who drape themselves in the national flag and strut about like hysterical hens, I say only that I have raised that flag higher than it has ever been in the eyes of the world,” Rama writes.
The head of government adds that his opponents will not stop him in what he calls his mission to integrate Albania into the European Union.
“…to those who think they will stop me with mud, eggs and drool in my mission to take our flag to the top of a united Europe, I say that if for the first time in the history of the Albanian state we have an institutional system showing a capacity for self-cleansing, that is a great achievement that did not fall from the sky but came precisely as one of the results of this mission!” he continues.
Referring to the debate on corruption, the prime minister declares that today’s Albania is no longer the country it was in the past, in his view.
“In a country drowned in the swamp of corruption, there is no frontal fight and no concrete results against corruption — and that country is the one we all lived in, until I and my party turned the wheel of justice toward the equality of all before the law!” he says.
Rama says Albania is now praised by the European Union for its fight against corruption, while attacking political and media opponents who, he says, use this issue to hit the government.
“Today Albania is no longer that country, and that is why the European Union appreciates Albania more and more for this fight,” writes the prime minister.
Continuing his reaction, Rama uses even harsher language against the protesters and his opponents, calling them “hysterical hens” and mocking the constant corruption accusations.
“The hysterical hens of our village cluck and toss eggs into the air on behalf of the fattened roosters of the political and media bazaar, whose minds are no bigger than an egg, in the belief that they will stop me with the endless rants about corruption that is being fought by the very system we are building,” he continues.
