Rama: Nobody will stop me with the corruption tales spun by the ‘hysterical hens’!
Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted through a post on the X platform regarding the protests in New York.
Rama referred to the use of the national flag during the protests, as well as the throwing of eggs and mud at him and government representatives.
‘To those who wrap themselves in the national flag and scatter through the streets like hysterical hens, I say only that I have raised that flag higher than it has ever been in the eyes of the world,’ Rama writes.
The head of government adds that his opponents will not stop him in what he calls his mission for Albania’s integration into the European Union.
‘…to those who think they will stop me with mud, eggs and spit in my mission to take our flag to the top of a united Europe, I tell them that if for the first time in the history of the Albanian state we have an institutional system displaying self-cleansing ability, this is a great achievement that did not fall from the sky but came precisely as one of the results of this mission!’ he continues.
Referring to the debate on corruption, the prime minister declares that today’s Albania is no longer the country that, in his view, it was in the past.
‘In a country drowned in the swamp of corruption, there is no frontal fight nor concrete results against corruption — and we have all lived in that country, until I and my party turned the wheel of justice toward the equality of all before the law!’ he says.
Rama says that today Albania is appreciated by the European Union for the fight against corruption, while attacking political and media opponents who, in his view, use this issue to strike at the government.
‘Today Albania is no longer that country, and that is why the European Union appreciates Albania more and more for this fight,’ the prime minister writes.
Further in his reaction, Rama uses even harsher language toward protesters and his opponents, calling them ‘hysterical hens’ and mocking the continuous accusations of corruption.
‘The hysterical hens of our village cackle and throw eggs in the air on behalf of the marketplace roosters of politics and media, whose brains, the size of an egg, deceive them into thinking they will stop me with endless tales about the corruption that is being fought by the very system we are building,’ he continues.
