Rezaei reveals Iran’s conditions for ending the war with the U.S.: end of fighting on all fronts, release of frozen funds and end of the naval blockade
Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has revealed for the first time Tehran’s conditions for ending the war with the United States, in a lengthy interview with Al Jazeera given on Saturday. He said the conditions are “the end of the war on all fronts, the release of Iran’s frozen funds and the end of the American naval blockade,” and that they have been conveyed to Washington through Qatar, the main regional mediator.
According to Rezaei, consultations with the Qatari and Pakistani mediators are ongoing and Iran is awaiting President Donald Trump’s response. “It is in Washington’s interest to accept Iran’s conditions for exiting the war,” he said, adding that Trump’s threats “will produce no result” and that Iran is ready for a decisive war if necessary.

Rezaei said Iran is convinced of the need to change its strategy toward Washington after the American withdrawal from the memorandum of understanding, and blamed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for fueling the war. He claimed the U.S. president’s assessments and calculations regarding Iran have been wrong, and that Tehran knows the weaknesses of the American military and is “more prepared than ever” to counter U.S. airstrikes. According to him, Iran recently tested an anti-ship missile near an American aircraft carrier.
The senior Iranian official added that if Iran is attacked, it will strike American bases and Washington’s interests in the region “with greater force.” He also stressed that Tehran seeks an end to the war between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis, adding that he believes the Houthis themselves want a deal with Riyadh.
