Russian Drone Strike Kills Five on Bus in Southeastern Ukraine, Governor Says
A Russian drone strike on a passenger bus killed five people and injured at least seven others on Wednesday in southeastern Ukraine, in the area around the city of Nikopol, the regional governor announced.
The governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, Oleksandr Hanzha, announced the attack on Telegram, publishing a photo of a white vehicle with shattered windows and blood running down its side.
“The Russians cynically struck a passenger bus. They targeted a minibus carrying people going about their daily business,” said Mykola Lukashuk, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional council.
Nikopol lies opposite Russian-occupied territory, just a few kilometres away on the other side of the Dnipro River, and is a regular target of Russian attacks.
There was no immediate comment from Russia on the attack. Both Ukraine and Russia deny deliberately targeting civilians in the war.
