Russian Strikes Kill at Least Eight, Injure 30 in Ukraine in Last 24 Hours; Child Wounded Yesterday in Kyiv Region Dies in Hospital
Russian strikes across Ukraine have killed at least eight people and injured 30 others over the past day, local authorities said in their September 20 briefing.
Separately from the past day’s toll, a child wounded in a Russian strike in the Kyiv region a day earlier has died in hospital. On September 19, a mother and a child were wounded and taken to hospital; Kyiv regional governor Tymur Tkachenko later announced that the child died in hospital.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 138 attack drones, of which 101 were intercepted before hitting their targets.
In the eastern Donetsk region, seven people were injured, governor Vadym Filashkin said. In the northeastern Kharkiv region, three people were injured — a 19-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man — governor Oleh Syniehubov said.
In the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, one person was killed and three injured, according to governor Ivan Fedorov. In the southern Kherson region, three people were killed and 11 injured, including a child, governor Oleksandr Prokudin said; two of the victims were struck this morning by Russian drones in the city of Kherson.
In the northeastern Sumy region, four people were killed — two men aged 45 and 58 and two women aged 56 and 76 — and five injured. In the northern Chernihiv region, one person was injured by a Russian FPV drone in a border village, governor Viacheslav Chaus said.
