Šabić: Police Entry into Student Premises Without a Court Order Was Unlawful

Lawyer and legal analyst Rodolub Šabić said on Monday that the police’s attempt to enter student premises on Wednesday, September 16, without an appropriate court order was unlawful, and warned that pressure is likely to continue.

“Entering anyone’s apartment or business premises without an appropriate court order is undoubtedly a violation of two fundamental laws on police work — the Police Law and the Criminal Procedure Code,” Šabić told Nova.

He added that police leadership is responsible for the unlawful conduct of its subordinates “whether it simply closes its eyes and tolerates it or encourages it, and all the more so if it orders it”.

In the background, blockading students said that on September 16 officials of the Economic Crimes Sector came to their warehouse, where promotional material for upcoming actions is stored; the students claim the officials had no order and entered private property.
