Sami Zayn’s Title Win Opposed by Some Colleagues Backstage

On the latest episode of SmackDown, Sami Zayn defeated CM Punk to reclaim the undisputed WWE title — a result that surprised many fans.

As Bleacher Report reports, some colleagues backstage disagreed with the decision to have Zayn win the title again this year.

Zayn had won his first WWE world title in June, when he defeated Cody Rhodes at the Night of Champions event. That reign lasted only nine days, as he lost the belt to CM Punk in his first title defense. He then earned a rematch in the rivalry and, after a heel turn that cost his longtime friend Kevin Owens the win, got another chance at Punk and beat him again to regain the strap.

After the recent events, Zayn will need to win more support backstage if he wants this reign to last longer than the first, as Bleacher Report notes.
