Saudi Coalition: Air Defense Intercepts Houthi Ballistic Missile Aimed at Riyadh

Forces of the Saudi-led coalition announced that air defense intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the “terrorist” Houthi militia toward the capital Riyadh. The announcement was made by coalition spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki, in response to earlier Houthi claims that they had hit “sensitive targets” in Saudi Arabia with missiles and drones.

Al-Maliki said air defense forces thwarted the Houthis’ hostile attempts before they reached their targets, including attempts to hit civilians and civilian infrastructure in the cities of Taif, Baish, Farasan and Yanbu.

According to him, the Houthis are escalating efforts to hit civilians and civilian infrastructure in the capital, while the coalition command “affirms its right to take appropriate measures to curb the behavior of the terrorist Houthi militia, in accordance with international humanitarian law.”
