Senior Iranian official: The U.S. will ‘inevitably’ leave the region — warns of destruction of American bases

Iranian MP Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, has declared that the United States and Israel will eventually be expelled from the region, while calling for an end to the war. “The U.S. will inevitably leave this region, and the days of the Zionist regime (Israel) are numbered,” Azizi said, as Al Jazeera reports. “In the end, it is us and our neighbors who remain here, face to face,” he added. “That day will be recorded as the brightest day in history, when we will have cleansed our region.”
Azizi made the comments during a meeting with families of members of the Iranian parliament’s National Security Commission. He also warned that a war in the region could lead to the destruction of U.S., British, and French military bases.
The statements come at a moment of high tension, as Tehran awaits Washington’s final response to the new Qatar-mediated proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days. U.S. officials have described the indirect talks as “positive and constructive,” but stressed there will be no deal without addressing Iran’s nuclear program.
In parallel, senior Revolutionary Guard commander Habibollah Sayyari claimed on Monday that Iran has full control over the Strait of Hormuz through its “navy” — a claim the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) dismissed as false, stating that “Iran has no navy, because U.S. forces sank it.”
