Sozina Tunnel: 3.34 million vehicles since the start of the year

The Sozina Tunnel has served 3.34 million vehicles since the start of the year, according to data published on the website of Monteput, the company that administers the tunnel — a pace that brings this year close to a new traffic record.

Statistics from previous years show steady growth: last year 4.14 million vehicles passed through the tunnel, in 2024 the figure was 3.76 million, and in 2023 — 3.5 million vehicles.

The Sozina Tunnel opened in July 2005; its construction cost around 74 million euros, of which Montenegro provided 50 million and 24 million was taken as a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB). The tunnel connects the coastal area with the central part of Montenegro and remains one of the country’s main communication axes.
