Stefan Löfven, president of the European Socialists, backs the “Europe Serbia” list for the October 25 elections
The president of the Party of European Socialists (PES) and former prime minister of Sweden, Stefan Löfven, has publicly expressed his support for the “Europe Serbia” electoral list in the parliamentary elections of October 25, as Danas reports. The announcement was made today by the Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP), which published Löfven’s video message addressed to the citizens of Serbia.
In his message, Löfven said that the citizens of Serbia are deciding on a choice of great importance, mentioning the student protests, the demands for accountability after the tragedy at the Novi Sad railway station, as well as concerns about corruption and pressure on institutions.
“This is a decisive moment for strengthening democracy, restoring trust in institutions and confirming Serbia’s European future. Real change begins when citizens choose freely, without fear, and when power is accountable to the people,” Löfven was quoted as saying, according to Danas.
He stressed that PES and its member parties stand with the SSP and with all those who, as he put it, are fighting for a democratic and European Serbia. PES is the European political party that brings together social democratic and socialist parties from various European countries.
The “Europe Serbia – Marinika Tepić – Zdravko Ponoš” list, made up of the SSP, Serbia Center and the “Solidarnost” platform, has been certified for the parliamentary elections of October 25.
