Suspicious foam and white liquid in the Lim River again — fishermen raise the alarm, ecological inspection on site

A suspicious white liquid and foam reappeared this morning in the waters of the Lim River in Bijelo Polje, raising the alarm over a new ecological incident on the river. Several fishermen who were in the area confirmed the news to Vijesti.

According to the fishermen, the incident is localized near the bridge in Gubavač, on the road toward Goje and further toward the border with Serbia. They say this is not the first time the river has experienced such a phenomenon, which shows the problem is recurring.

Fishermen currently fishing further upstream, in the Rasovo and Strojtanica neighborhoods, told Vijesti there is no foam in that part of the river — so the pollution appears limited to the Gubavač area. That helps the investigation pinpoint the possible source of the discharge.

The ecological inspection is already on site, according to Vijesti’s information. The NGO Euromost has also joined in tracing the foam’s flow, documenting the situation with drones and recording aerial footage of the polluted area.

The incident comes as Montenegro tries to meet European environmental standards, once again putting the protection of the northern rivers in the spotlight.
