Tabaku meets Hofreiter: EU integration is not propaganda

Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku received the chairman of the German Bundestag’s Committee on European Affairs, Anton Hofreiter, for a meeting. In a video posted on Facebook, Tabaku said the meeting with Hofreiter discussed Albania’s integration into the European Union.

According to Tabaku, the German side expressed concerns about the rule of law, nature protection and respect for the standards of the “Fundamentals” cluster. Tabaku said Albania faces a clear choice: to continue on the path toward the European Union and its values, or to move away from them.

“Integration is not propaganda. It means a state of law, where justice is not blocked by the force of voting cards in Parliament and where lawmaking is not turned into a notary of the interests of a minority,” Tabaku declared.

The opposition MP also criticized the government over the implementation of European standards, arguing that Albania is lagging behind in the integration process.

“If today we are behind Montenegro and still unprepared, that is the consequence of a government that has no will to implement either the spirit or the letter of EU laws,” she said.
