Tafani: If Adem Jashari Were Alive, He Would Have Been Convicted
Analyst Endri Tafani has harshly criticized the court’s ruling on former KLA members. Tafani raised the concern that the KLA is now being treated not as a military liberation organization, but as a mafia or structured criminal group.
“In practice, they no longer called the KLA a military liberation organization, but called it a structured criminal group that committed such acts.
The KLA’s statements were given as examples: for instance, the collaborator was killed, the spy so-and-so, KLA forces eliminated so-and-so who was a Serbian collaborator or killed this or that Serbian police officer and so on. So all these statements were taken as a political platform for seizing power and killing political opponents by the KLA,” he said.
Tafani adds that by this line of logic, Adem Jashari, too, if he were alive, could have faced conviction for similar statements made during the war.
“The irony of fate would be that if Adem Jashari were alive, he would have been convicted, because until Adem Jashari’s time some 40 or 50 such statements were made. So with this logic, Adem Jashari was also the head of a structured criminal group. This was the logic the court used today and it was the logic the prosecution also used. And unfortunately, this has been the logic that Donika Gërvalla has stated in front of everyone. She said ‘structured criminal group’ before the prosecutors brought out this structured criminal group of the KLA in court.
She has practically changed the KLA’s name. It is no longer called a liberation force; it is called a mafia group, a big mafia family according to the court’s decision,” Endri Tafani said.
