“Tell Me Everything”: Richard Prince’s first major Latin America retrospective opens at Mexico’s Museo Jumex
MEXICO CITY – Museo Jumex opens today, September 26, 2026, “Tell Me Everything” — the first major retrospective of Richard Prince in Latin America. The exhibition will remain open to the public through February 7, 2027.
Curated by the artist himself in collaboration with Museo Jumex chief curator Kit Hammonds, the show brings together more than 130 works spanning five decades of creativity — from the 1970s to today.
Visitors will encounter Prince’s most iconic series: “Cowboys” and “Girlfriends”, the famous “Jokes” collection, as well as the “Nurses”, “de Kooning”, “High Times” and “Cartoon” paintings. A central place is held by the “Hoods” sculptures — cars on which the artist has printed his images — and his early rephotography practice, through which Prince took images from advertising and fashion and turned them into artworks, becoming one of the founding figures of appropriationism.
Richard Prince is one of the most recognized and discussed figures of contemporary American art. The “Cowboys” series, built on the rephotography of the famous Marlboro ads, turned him into an icon of art that questions originality, authorship and the power of mass-media images, as Gagosian notes.
