Territorial reform in committee, Monday begins with protests

Parliament will hold a series of parliamentary committee meetings on October 5 ahead of the plenary session, which is scheduled to start at 15:00.

In the spotlight is the draft law "On the administrative-territorial division of local government units in the Republic of Albania", which will be discussed and voted on in principle, article by article and as a whole in the Committee on Legal Affairs and Public Administration, at 11:00.

Protests have also been announced over this draft law. Residents of the Municipality of Poliçan, who oppose the merger with Berat, have announced a rally in front of the Presidency of Parliament.

Meanwhile, organisers of the daily protests have called on citizens to gather at 14:00 in front of Parliament to protest during the plenary session, which starts at 15:00.

For its part, the Democratic Party has announced a national protest on October 8 against the Socialist Party’s territorial reform project.
