Rajinikanth’s “Jailer 2” unveils its trailer on October 5: Sun Pictures confirms the date with a new poster

Fans’ wait is coming to an end: the official trailer of “Jailer 2,” one of the most anticipated Indian films of the year, will be unveiled on October 5, only ten days before the world premiere on October 15, as studio Sun Pictures has officially confirmed through its social media channels, according to Zoom TV.

Rajinikanth returns in the iconic role of Muthuvel Pandian, the character who electrified cinemas in the 2023 hit. Behind the camera, Nelson Dilipkumar returns as director and screenwriter, while the production bears the signature of Kalanithi Maran for Sun Pictures. The expanded cast joins S. J. Suryah, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vijay Sethupathi, alongside the returning Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Shivarajkumar.

The promotional campaign is also gathering momentum through music: composer Anirudh Ravichander’s soundtrack includes the songs “Ala Bolelo,” “One Sun One Moon,” “Bindaas” and the anthem “One Name,” dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Rajinikanth’s career, while the full album with 12 songs was presented during an event in Chennai on September 30, TrackTollywood reports.

The announcement was accompanied by a new poster showing Rajinikanth’s Muthuvel Pandian in action, while the trailer will be released in three languages — Tamil, Telugu and Hindi — signalling the pan-Indian ambition of the sequel, which enters cinemas at the height of the Dussehra race against “Ranabaali.”

The 2023 “Jailer” became one of the biggest Tamil blockbusters of the decade, so expectations for the sequel are extraordinary — and the confirmation of the trailer date marks the official start of the countdown to October 15.
