The revelation that shook Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady’s relationship in the early days of their romance

Gisele Bündchen faced a major dilemma when she learned that her then-partner, Tom Brady, was expecting a child with his ex-girlfriend, Bridget Moynahan. According to author Lars Anderson, who tells the story in his new book Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness, the model was not sure whether she should stay or end the relationship.

“When Brady explained the situation to Gisele, she did not know what to do,” Anderson writes. “She had lived her life before Brady, but now she was truly in love, building a family alongside him. However, she kept asking herself: ‘Should I just walk away? Do I really want this?'”

In 2007, Moynahan was pregnant with Brady’s son, Jack. In her memoir, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life, Bündchen has said she learned about the pregnancy only two months after she had started her relationship with the NFL star. Brady and Moynahan had split up shortly before he got together with the model.

According to Anderson, Bündchen was confused because she was already “madly in love with Brady” and believed in the future of their relationship. She had even thought about whether she should encourage Brady to go back to Moynahan and build a family with her.

In the end, the decision was influenced by Brady himself, who managed to convince Bündchen to stay by his side. Although the model decided to continue the relationship, the couple faced a series of issues connected to Moynahan and the family situation. Meanwhile, their relationship was constantly under media scrutiny because of the timing of events.

Bündchen promised she would have an important role in Jack’s life, while Brady and Moynahan agreed to co-parent their son.

In 2009, Bündchen and Brady married. The couple stayed together until their divorce in 2022 and have two children, Vivian and Benjamin. Today, the former Victoria’s Secret model is married to jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente. The couple married in 2025.
