The Ronaldo case, Portugal loses 2 million followers on Instagram

Portugal won on the pitch even without Cristiano Ronaldo, but the absence of CR7 — and the controversies that accompanied it — have left a mark on the national team.

In fact, as Mundo Deportivo confirms, Portugal’s profile on Instagram lost a full 2 million followers after the 41-year-old’s decision to leave the camp and the consequences that followed.

Currently, the account counts 22.8 million followers, a drop compared with the 24,942,000 it had before the incident.

This may be the reason why both sides are trying to smooth over the disagreement. It is no secret that CR7’s fans are very active; in recent days, they even “flooded” the social media profile of Gonçalo Ramos’s wife.
