The Laws Committee approves the Territorial Reform amid strong debates with the SP’s votes, the majority passes it to Parliament for the plenary session

After the discussions, debates and political accusations held in the Laws Committee today (5 October), the initiative received 8 votes in favour, all from the MPs of the Socialist Party, while 5 MPs voted against.

The Laws Committee has approved in principle the draft law proposed by the Socialist Party for the country’s new territorial map.

Today’s vote opens the way for the continuation of the parliamentary procedures for changing the territorial map, which is expected to be examined further before passing for a vote in the plenary session.

The territorial reform has been accompanied by debates between the majority and the opposition, while the proposed changes affect the organisation and administrative division of the territory.

The draft law is now expected to continue its parliamentary journey after the approval in principle in the Laws Committee.
