Trump appeals to supporters ahead of November elections: If we lose, the Democrats will try to impeach me

U.S. President Donald Trump has called on his supporters to vote in the November elections, urging them to consider the race as if he himself were a candidate.

“Pretend I’m running, please. Just pretend, because I am on the ballot,” Trump declared, seeking to mobilize his electorate.

The American president also warned that, in his view, a Republican loss could open the way for Democrats to launch another impeachment procedure against him.

“If we don’t win, they will end up impeaching me,” Trump said.

The impeachment procedure begins in the House of Representatives, where a majority is needed to formally bring charges against the president. The case then moves to the Senate, where a two-thirds vote of senators is required to remove him from office.
