World’s tallest wind turbine reaches 365 metres in Germany
A wind turbine in eastern Germany has reached a height of 365 metres, becoming the tallest in the world, according to the developer company Gicon.
Aerial footage shows the structure rising above the surrounding landscape, while workers can be seen near its top.
The turbine is located in Schipkau, in Brandenburg, and is already the second-tallest structure in Germany, only three metres shorter than the Berlin TV Tower.
Its height allows it to reach stronger and more consistent winds, creating the potential to produce more electricity than other turbines in the surrounding area.
The project has been developed over a decade and is expected to start operating in November.
