Trump to hold Ohio rally on October 3 ahead of tight Senate race
President Donald Trump will travel to Ohio on October 3 for a campaign rally at Butler High School in Vandalia, as the midterm campaign heats up in this key state.
The rally, announced by the Republican National Committee, will begin at 5:30 p.m., with Trump expected to speak at 7:00 p.m., as The Columbus Dispatch reports.
The visit comes amid a heated race for the U.S. Senate between Republican Jon Husted and former Senator Sherrod Brown — a contest whose outcome could decide which party controls the Senate for the rest of Trump’s term. Polls show the race as tied, pushing Republicans and Democrats to pour millions of dollars in ads into Ohio.
Governor Mike DeWine appointed Husted to the Senate after JD Vance became vice president in 2025. The winner on November 3 will serve the final two years of Vance’s term.
Also on the ballot is a tight gubernatorial race between Republican Vivek Ramaswamy — who ran for president against Trump and spent two months in his administration’s Department of Government Efficiency — and Democrat Dr. Amy Acton.
It is not yet clear which candidates and elected officials will appear at the rally alongside Trump.
