Turkish Billionaire’s Private Jet Runs Off Runway in Libya and Catches Fire (VIDEO)
An alarm was raised on Monday morning, September 14, at Misrata airport in Libya, when a private jet slid off the runway during landing and was engulfed in flames.
The Cessna 680A Citation Latitude is said to belong to Turkish billionaire and businessman Hamdi Akin. According to the country’s Transport Ministry, there were no reports of casualties or injuries.
According to information from AirportHaber, the private jet, which was heading to Libya to pick up passengers, had on board the pilot and one crew member, who were rescued unharmed.
A fire broke out at the scene and black smoke rose into the sky. A short while later, firefighters arrived at the airport to bring the flames under control.
As reported by the Libyan News Agency (LANA), the incident led to the suspension of flights at the airport.
