Two Israeli soldiers lightly wounded in explosion in southern Lebanon — Israel blames Hezbollah

Two Israeli soldiers were lightly wounded on Saturday after an engineering vehicle hit an explosive device in southern Lebanon, the Israeli army announced. According to the announcement, the soldiers were evacuated for medical treatment and their families were informed.

The Israeli army blamed Hezbollah for the explosion and said it struck several targets in southern Lebanon in response.

Southern Lebanon remains one of the hottest fronts of the conflict: Israeli strikes there are almost daily for weeks now, while Israeli chief of staff Eyal Zamir has warned that “the war in Lebanon is not over” and that operations will continue “deep inside” Lebanese territory.

Saturday’s incident comes just one day after the third airstrike on the city of Nabatieh al-Fawqa and a series of shellings in several southern villages.
