USA and Chile meet in the St. Louis friendly on September 29

The United States national team faces Chile on Tuesday in a friendly played at Energizer Park, the St. Louis CITY SC stadium. The match is scheduled for September 29, at 20:00 ET (17:00 PT). The USA arrive after a 4-1 win over Peru.

As mlssoccer reports, Sunday marked the debuts of MLS-produced forwards Justin Ellis (Orlando) and Julian Hall (Red Bull New York), both goalscorers in that win. Among the new names was also Cavan Sullivan, who became one of the youngest players on the national team, while coach Mauricio Pochettino called up 13 MLS players, eight of whom are 21 or younger. His decisions brought a balance between renewal and experience, with players like Tyler Adams, Malik Tillman and Gio Reyna.

Chile come after a 1-0 loss to Canada, a match in which La Roja were left with nine players following red cards for Lucas Cepeda (35′) and Gabriel Suazo (50′), while Jonathan David scored in the 12th minute. In that match, Columbus Crew forward Gonzalo Tapia played 62 minutes, while Atlanta United’s Paulo Díaz remained on the bench as an unused substitute. Chile have not been to the World Cup since the 2014 edition, when the team featured Alexis Sánchez alongside goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The match will be broadcast in English on TNT, truTV and HBO Max, and in Spanish on Universo and Peacock. For the September–October international window, the USA have four matches, including the two home games against Mexico (October 3) and Canada (October 6). According to mlssoccer, this camp marks the start of the cycle toward the 2030 World Cup.
